CONFERENCE DESIGN
NLADA's Annual Conference is the leading national training event of the year for the civil legal aid, indigent defense and public interest law communities. The conference offers advocates the latest substantive information and professional skills they need to creatively and effectively meet the legal needs of low-income people, and provides unparalleled opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from across the country while fulfilling continuing legal education requirements. This year's conference theme is: "Delivering on the Dream: Marching Toward 100 Years of Justice"
PROPOSED CIVIL, DEFENDER, GENERAL, BOARD LEADERSHIP & CLIENT PROGRAMMING
To assist the community in developing workshop sessions consistent with this year's theme, NLADA presents the proposed track titles and descriptions. We hope that you will consider shaping your workshop proposal around these proposed programmatic agendas.
Civil Theme - Continuing the Pursuit of Justice for the Next 100 Years
Among the areas we intend to address are:
Defender Track: The Right to Counsel Is the First Step on the March Towards Justice
For the 2010 Annual Conference, we will use a new simplified process to determine the topics and presenters for the Defender sessions during the program. We will not be requesting RFP's for defender sessions. Instead, NLADA staff has identified a list of potential topics and inviting presenters to lead the session. We invite you to provide feedback on these topics, recommend presenters, and offer suggestions for additional topics.
Please share your thoughts and suggestions concerning potential topics and speakers, including whether you have an interest in being a presenter, via e-mail to Karl Doss at defendertrainer@nlada.org. We would appreciate receiving your suggestions by no later than June 14, 2010.
Client Track - Why we must march on together: Standing Still will not do if we put Community First.
